Vinny grew up in Ireland. He was inspired to play the oboe after hearing “Gabriel’s Oboe” (Theme from the movie The Mission) on an Aer Lingus TV commercial. He studied music (composition and oboe performance) while attending college in Waterford and spent a year at the Conservatory in Paris. His endeavors in music provided opportunity to travel and work in LA at Greenstar Records, and eventually settled in Milwaukee in 2004.

Although classically trained, Vinny is most inspired by alternative rock bands such as Radiohead, The Killers, The Frames, and Jeff Buckley. Poulenc and Miles Davis are top of his classical and Jazz picks. He loves attending live music concerts and festivals and discovering new music.

While working as a producer for TourGigs, Vinny helped live stream Noah Kahan’s show form Red Rocks, Colorado, July 2023 and Fenway Park July 2024, as well as two KLOVE Red Rocks events, which were made into feature films.
In 2024 Vinny performed a series of unique gigs with MSO Cellist Peter Thomas, where they played the music of Radiohead, Foo Fighters and other alternative rock bands using looping pedals, drum tracks, electric cello and oboe.
Vinny has performed and recorded with musicians from the MSO (Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra) for original alternative-rock music recording sessions as well as weddings and funerals.
Vinny has been managing/producing and writing music with LA based Alt-Rock musician Johnny Mallaley, for the past 20+ years, composing string and horn arrangements. He performs annually with The Irish Fest Orchestra, MAMCO (Milwaukee Area Messiah Choir and Orchestra) and has been a guest soloist for The Menomonee Falls Orchestra. Vinny is occasionally a guest saxophonist in his neighbor’s pop/rock cover band “BockenPlautz.” Vinny played and composed oboe arrangements on Sarah Fierek’s Christmas song: “Cathedral Square Carols,” produced by Roger Ryan and recorded in Nashville Tennessee in the fall of 2022.
